Relatively rich conodont faunas from the "Clymeniae Limestones" of southeastern Sardinia-with bispathodids, palmatolepids, polygnathids, protognathodids and pseudopolygnathids-are shown to range from the Lower expansa Zone (late Famennian) to the Upper duplicata Zone (early Tournaisian), though without evidence of the intervening Upper praesulcata and the sulcata zones. This is the first documented occurrence of Carboniferous conodonts from Sardinia. Of 48 conodont taxa in 8 genera reported, five are described as new: Pseudopolygnathus rapiformis, Polygnathus longulus, Po. pusillus, Po. tenuiserratus, and Po. comunis renatae
